Virtual machines (VMs) provide secure and elastic compute capacity in the cloud for workloads ranging from small development projects to large-scale, global applications like real-time communication platforms. A variety of VM shapes are available, including the new flexible shapes, which lets customers specify the precise number of cores (up to 80) and corresponding memory (up to 64 GB per core) to match workload requirements. This capability alleviates the concerns associated with having to choose predefined sizes.
